Formed in 1974, the Band plays in the Scottish musical tradition with a unique sound and style renowned in Scottish Country Dance communities throughout the world.
With 19 recordings to its credit, the Band was the first outside Scotland to record for The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (Book 12) .
In 2004 Bobby was awarded the
Scroll of Honour
by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society in Edinburgh (RSCDS HQ) for his contribution to Scottish music and dance.
In May 2011 Bobby was to be given the RSCDS Branch Award, nominated by London Canada branch, for his "outstanding contribution to the preservation and performance of traditional Scottish music".
In June 2011 Bobby was to be honoured by the National Association of Accordion and Fiddle Clubs in Scotland for fifty years playing Scottish music. He joins recipients including Jimmy Shand, Bobby MacLeod, Andy Stewart, Ian Powrie and many others.
The five piece Band performed regularly in Canada & USA at formal balls, social dances,& workshops and has appeared on BBC Radio Scotland's "Take the Floor" programme both in Scotland and in Canada.
Bobby Brown &The Scottish Accent were comfortable playing not only for Scottish Country Dancing & Ceilidh dancing but also for "middle of the road" modern, mixed or old tyme dancing.
